Welcome to RT Photography's Studio Blog!

This blog promises to be a dynamic, thriving, live conduit through which I'll share with you, my customers, customers-to-be, professional peers, family and friends some of the fantastic images we'll collectively produce.  I'll include interesting details of each featured photo session or other activity related to the studio, and welcome any comments you might have. I want to offer a special Thank You to Lindsay Adler at Adler Photography who produced this great portrait (of a difficult subject) for my blog site.

Insanely Beautiful Vanessa!

As I was reviewing some of the images I’d shot of my very best friend and model Vanessa, I came upon a version of the following image which compelled me to crop and finish it in this manner, thereby emphasizing the perfect symmetry of her amazingly detailed, blue eyes and her deliciously full crimson lips. Hair & Makeup was done by Michelle O’Neil.

The House – Rebuilt

Back in December 2011, we showed you our brand new, rebuilt Main Studio, completed at the end of November. Finally, at the end of February the remainder of the first floor was beautifully finished. Here are a few views:

Boudoir Portraits

Giving your loved one the special gift of sexy, artistic boudoir photos on Valentine’s Day is classic.

Now that Valentine’s Day has passed, however, you don’t have to abandon the idea of creating something unique either for him, or just for yourself.

Boudoir portrait sessions have an amazing, empowering effect on my clients. They will sometimes arrive at their shoot feeling very timid and just a bit unsure, yet still excited to create something amazing. With the aid of my female assistants, my clients always finish their sessions feeling beautiful, sexy and completely confident in themselves!

As we always respect the privacy of our clients, the boudoir examples shown here are courtesy of some of my beautiful models.

Comparing Amateur & Professional Wedding Photography

We have heard horror stories from devastated brides who had based the decision for their wedding photography solely upon an extremely low price tag.

In a desperate attempt to salvage some of their most cherished memories from that special day, these brides invariably go to a professional photographer and hand them the CD they got from the cheap place. They ask the pro to make the unfinished, badly lit, poorly composed snap-shots contained thereon into beautiful photographs like those they display in their professional studio. Regrettably, this simply cannot be done. By selecting a bargain-priced, inexperienced, amateur “photographer” for their wedding, they’ve lost once-in-a-lifetime memories that can never be recovered.

In a society where cell phone and webcam pictures have become the norm, too many people have lost sight of what truly great photography can actually look like, and the technical and artistic effort required in order to create such amazing images. They, therefore, find it difficult to justify paying premium pricing for professional photography, thinking that the cheap place will be “good enough”. In photography, you always get what you pay for. If you want horrible snap-shots of your wedding, don’t pay for that! Let Uncle Charlie snap away for nothing. But, if you want a truly awe-inspiring, beautiful, artistic rendering of your special day for timeless reflection of those cherished memories, contract with a quality professional photographer who knows his craft. RT Photography is just such a photographer, and the ONLY Certified Professional Photographer in all of Tioga County! We have provided, below, a couple of admittedly contrived, yet accurate example comparisons between wedding images that you might get with the bargain snap-shooter (labeled “Amateur” in these comparisons), and a professional photographer who understands light, composition, posing and mood, such as RT Photography (labeled “Professional” in the comparisons).

This photo is a collage showing what our main studio looked like in January 2010 shortly after moving in – showing just the first backdrop – then what it looked like immediately after the water from the September 2011 flood had receded, and finally, now once it’s been restored in November.
